This is a close up of some of the buildings on an old homestead just to the west of Highway 95 near Harrogate. A haunting scene they always capture my imagination. It's somehow sad to see them slowly collapsing and disappearing when one knows that at some time people lived and loved there. I wanted to capture the scene before it too is merely a memory like the era it represents.
I framed the painting and it is currently in Kimberley at Centre 64 for the month of March and their "Marching On..." exhibit. A part of me found it difficult to let the painting go. It stirs my soul with its contrast of haunting images and colourful foliage and speaks to me of the heart of our valley's history.
