Mural beginnings

This week the students of Edgewater Elementary and I began working on our mural. I took the pieces of the large heart in and we started with the sanding.  It was a perfect activity for the the Kindergarten students to do.

When the sanding was complete we moved on to the priming of the pieces with the Grade 1/2 students.  This work went a little slower and took two separate afternoons.

I get goosebumps seeing how excited the children are to pick up the paint roller for the first time.  I love seeing them becoming 'owners' of the project.  It is my determination that every child in the school will participate in the creation of this giant heart mural representing the school pond, the local environment, and some native art.
